Hummingbird Program 2026
Starbucks Coffee Japan
- Summary
-
I designed the 2026 Starbucks Card for the “Hummingbird Program,” a child support initiative led by Starbucks Coffee Japan since 2012.
This design marks the final chapter of a three-year series starting in 2024. The story began with a single hummingbird carrying a droplet of water. As it encountered like-minded companions, they joined forces, creating a circle of unity that transforms their collective efforts into a grand blessing.
Much like the birds depicted here, I hope the spirit behind this program will resonate with many people, helping this circle of support grow even wider.

What is the “Hummingbird Program”?
The hummingbird motif symbolizing this program comes from an Andean folktale called “A Drop of Water from the Hummingbird.”
When a forest caught fire, all the animals fled in panic. Only the tiny hummingbird flew back and forth, carrying drops of water in its beak and dropping them onto the flames. The other animals mocked the bird, asking, “What good is that going to do?” To which the hummingbird replied, “I am simply doing what I can.”
This program is built on that very spirit: even the smallest action can become a powerful force when everyone comes together to do what they can.
From July 22, 2026 (6:00 AM) to September 1, 2026, when customers issue a “Hummingbird” Starbucks Card, a 100 yen donation will be collected. Additionally, Starbucks will donate an amount equivalent to 1% of purchases made with eligible cards during this period. For more details, please visit the link below.
